The Almaden NJB Chapter has a rich history in sportsmanship and community involvement. We are excited to say that we are approved to open for "camps" that involve drills only, no contact. All of our plans are with-in the Santa Clara County Health Department Covid-19 guidelines. While we would love to be able to play competitive games amongst ourselves and other chapters, current guidelines don't allow it. Our alternative not only tries to bring back a little form of normalcy for our children but also get them off of their computers and outside.
With public schools not open yet it leaves us no options for indoor gymnasiums. But we are allowed to use the outdoor courts at many of our local schools. The season will be outdoor ONLY. With Day Light Savings upon us, sunlight and weather can be factors.
We plan to begin on December 5th and run for 12 weeks not including Christmas through the end of February 28th. The cost for the program will be non-refundable $40 for the entire season. There will absolutely be NO refunds based on potential future Covid-19 shelter in place or weather. We are encouraging "buddy requests" and "coach requests" more than ever but we can not guarantee either will happen. Each team will have a maximum of 12 players per Santa Clara County guidelines.
To summarize key points:
1. NJB is open in Almaden for a non-contact, outdoor skills and drills season beginning on 12/5 with a social distancing protocol
2. Practices will be at least 60 minutes long and on Saturday and Sunday.
3. The cost for the entire season is only $40. No refunds for any Covid related shutdowns or weather issues.
4. Buddy and Coach requests are being accepted this season for your child's POD of 12. We will do our best to match as many requests as possible.
Our goal is to allow kids to participate in non-contact basketball drills while limiting the risk of exposure through proper screening, sanitation, and social distancing protocols. We will limit our activities to those that we know can be executed in accordance with county guidelines. While it's different than past seasons, we are excited about the opportunity to get to have our kids get outside and learn the sport of basketball.
